Working for a charity shouldn’t be at the expense of your wellbeing

Is this you?

You found your way to charity work because helping others, making a difference in the world is integral to who you are. And being a charity leader became the one way you could make a difference, to really transform the lives of others, to do something with meaning.

But somewhere along the way it’s left you exhausted, on the brink of burnout and questioning whether working for a charity is really for you; whether you have it in you anymore.

I know you

  • Find yourself wondering if this is it?

  • Feel you have no time to do your job.

  • Struggle finding the motivation you need.

  • Feel that you’re not there for your partner and kids.

  • Struggle to find a balance between work and life.

  • Feel that if you just keep going, it will have to get better eventually.

  • Think that eventually there will be time for what you want.

  • Have no idea what else you could do.

  • Keep finding yourself at the bottom of your to do list.

If this resonates, let’s see how I can help.

  • My sessions with Alex have been a calm anchor point each month and have enabled me to increase my confidence and to reach some difficult decisions. I highly recommend her to anyone feeling totally overwhelmed working in a charity (or 2!) - Jane

  • “I worked with Alex around my work / life balance, priorities and goals. A natural cynic, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but very quickly Alex showed me clear paths to set short, medium and long term goals, and a way to keep my values at the heart of my mid-life career change. I can’t recommend working with Alex enough.” - Anna

  • “Alex listened, was non-judgemental, provided me with some useful tools, helped me to make sense of my thoughts and provided me with a safe space to be open and honest.” - Jenieve

  • “Thanks for our session yesterday, you really helped me find a new perspective on how I’m balancing all the things that are going on right now. As well as make a plan for what I’m choosing to prioritise right now, which makes moving forward much less complicated” - Louise

  • “Alex creates a safe space where I have always felt able to explore difficult feelings and emotions. I always feel able to work at my own pace” - Angela
